The importance of effective communication skills

There are many reasons why effective communication skills are important. However, I think the reason which I prefer the most is as follows. The importance of effective communication skill is to get what you want as quickly as possible.

Let us look at this from a time line point of view. When we are a baby, we communicate by crying because we want to get our mothers attention whether if it is for milk or comfort. As we grow older we learn to speak and communicated to make friends as we enjoy companionship. In our working life, we learn how to communicate well with our bosses as we want our promotion. As we grow old, we want to pass on our life lessons to our grandchildren and thus we learn how to speak their lingo.

This is why it is important to build up effective communication skills. We need them to help us get things that we want, but are unable to do so with our own abilities. I know this sounds rather self-centered, however it is quite true. We even take the time to change our communication skills to adapt to the situation at hand. In fact, one could argue that there is only one effective communication skill that we should build up, and that is the ability to change how we interact with different people in different situations.

Hi Ryan,

I think this is a post well done because you've covered how communication is important to you instead of just casually mentioning why it is important to humans as a whole.

The points you mentioned explains areas which I haven't thought of, and I'm enlighted by what you talked about.

Your post is also formal yet not intimidating. It is overall a good read, excellent! =)
